Fly to Dubrovnic, Croatia.

May 2, ThursdayDUBROVNIK   Hotel Komodor

Transfer from Airport to Hotel Zagreb. We will draw and paint in Dubrovnik.

The city is full of surprises. When visiting the Old town, UNESCO heritage site take your time to walk around cobblestone streets, and enjoy Medieval architecture  and a panorama of the Navy blue seas. Climb up and walk the city wall. It is quite a different perspective of the city and it’s surroundings.

For more stunning views, take a cable car to Mt. Srdj especially during the sunset.

The city is well known for the Game of Thrones TV series as many scenes were shot there.

Bisides Old Town there are few museums like Maritime Museum, The Reactors Palace, and a photo-journalism gallery.

May 6, Monday               VRBOSKA, HVAR ISLAND   Hotel Pharos Bayhill

The island of Hvar is the queen of the Croatian Dalmatian islands. It has been famous since the antique because of its important strategic and nautical position, the rich of the various historical periods, the culture and natural monuments and the literature. Rich cultural and historic heritage of Hvar dates back to pre-historic times, unique gastronomy, beautiful beaches and bays , crystal blue sea, and the hospitality of the local people are a guarantee. Whatever you are looking for on your trip, you may find it here; night life and cultural attractions of cosmopolitan Hvar town.  There ared boat excursions to Pakleni Islands and sandy beaches near Jelsa. See the ancient town Stari Grad in which past centuries mingle with modern tourist facilities, heavenly beaches under pine trees in Zavala, exotic atmosphere of south cliffs in Ivan Dolac, Sveta Nedjelja or MIlna, the "little Venice" ambient in Vrbovska, drive through and senic lavander fields near Zastrazisce, Gdinj and Bogomolje, and the peaceful secluded bays near Sucuraj.

May 7, Tuesday        VRBOSKA, HVAR ISLAND to SPLIT   Pharos Bayhill

May 8, Wednesday                   SPLIT Hotel Slavija

Another city full of history. Enjoy visiting Peristyle, an open-air pavilion which brings you right back to Roman times.

Split Cathedral offers great views over the town from the top of its bell tower. And while you walk around, see if you noticed any city gates around. Little clue, there are four town gates, each on one side of the palace: The Golden, Silver, Bronze and Iron Gate. Just out of the Golden gate, you’ll also see Gregory of Nin (Grgur Ninski) statue, work of renowned Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic.

You don’t need to head to Egypt to see the original Egyptian sphinxes. Find two of them in Split, on Peristyle, near Jupiter Temple that today serves as a baptistery.

The Piazza, or People’s Square, became the town’s central point in the 14th century. The square features some interesting landmarks and buildings, and it’s always alive with people.

Vocni Trg, or Fruit Square, owes its name to the fruit market that once took place here daily. Today, it boasts cafes, shops, a Venetian octagonal tower from the 15th centuries; the 17th century baroque Palace Milesi; and a statue of Marko Marulic, a 15th century poet, and a father of Croatian literature. The statue is a work of the famed Croatian sculptor – Ivan Mestrovic.

May 10 Friday        PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK    Plitvice Inn

This is one of the oldest and the largest national parks in Croatia. In 1979, Plitvice Lakes National Park was added to the UNESCO World Heritage register.

The whole national park, is created so you can walk among turquoise lake cascades. You have trails in every direction, and if the distance is too big you can take a boat across. Here is a drone overview on the lakes, but pictures can’t do the justice to your up close experience.

May 11, Saturday    PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK  to MOTOVUN  B&B Villa Borgo

May 12, Sunday   MOTOVUN      B&B Villa Borgo

At the foot of the Motovun hill, the mythical Jason and the Argonauts sailed along the Mirna River, but the first inhabitants to leave traces populated this area in the period between 3,500 and 2,200 B.C. The first mention of Motovun in written records dates back to 804 and after centuries of domination by the Germans and the Patriarchs of Aquileia. Motovun asked Venice to be accepted under its rule in 1278 and remained so until 1797. At the time of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy this area was renowned for the growing of trees used in ship-building.
